Edible Inspiration: Cool + Sparse Food Styling

You may or may not know this, but once upon a time I had a baking blog, along with my friend Kesha, called Shared Sugar. Side note: this German Chocolate Cake is one of my very favorites from the blog. We wrote recipes, baked our butts off, styled the finished product and photographed it. At some point or another, busy lives got in the way. And, honestly, we were also overdosed on sugar. Slowly we stopped posting there. Since then, I have not done nearly as much baking. However, there's been enough time that I've started to get the urge to bake and/or cook and share it from time to time in this space. I've decided I'll be starting up a new semi-regular food column where I share recipes every so often.

I'm getting excited about revisiting food styling and food photography after a hiatus. I've been drawn to more food photography lately, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorite image inspirations with you. I've been drawn to images that have cool tones and a lot of white. The styling is simple and sparse, but well placed.
